Job Description

We are working with a well-established real estate investor with a growing UK portfolio who are looking to appoint a Technical & Development Manager.

The role sits within the development and technical team and works closely with investment, asset management and operating partners across the portfolio.

This position offers a combination of project delivery and portfolio technical oversight, with responsibility for managing smaller development projects independently while supporting the wider pipeline of acquisitions and developments.

The portfolio currently includes 120+ operational assets across the UK, alongside an active development pipeline.

Recent activity includes:

  • £65m of new acquisitions across four assets

  • Multiple new-build schemes currently under construction

  • Several committed development projects progressing through planning

  • A portfolio of refurbishment and extension works across existing buildings

The successful candidate will take ownership of a number of these projects, including smaller developments and upgrade programmes, while supporting the Head of Technical on larger schemes.

The role also carries responsibility for supporting the portfolio’s sustainability and energy reduction initiatives, acting as an internal champion for improving building performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and refurbishment projects across the portfolio

  • Act as technical lead on selected projects, managing consultants, contractors and operators

  • Support acquisitions through technical due diligence

  • Monitor building condition and lifecycle planning across operational assets

  • Work closely with operators to ensure buildings are maintained and compliant

  • Support sustainability initiatives across the portfolio and drive energy performance improvements

  • Review development agreements and construction contracts

  • Coordinate technical information and building data across the portfolio

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in construction, engineering, architecture or related discipline

  • Professional qualification (or working towards) such as MRICS / MCIOB

  • Experience managing development or refurbishment projects

  • Comfortable taking responsibility for projects and working with external consultants

  • Interest in sustainability and improving building performance

APC support can be provided for candidates currently progressing through qualification.

Why This Role

  • Exposure to acquisition, development and operational asset management

  • Work across a large UK operational portfolio

  • Strong pipeline of developments and refurbishment projects

  • Clear opportunity to grow alongside the portfolio
