Job Description

Constable Green has been retained by a long-established residential freehold owner to appoint a Managing Director for its in-house asset management business.

The business manages a large UK freehold portfolio with multiple income streams and specialist teams covering property and asset management, legal, credit control, insurance, pre-sale enquiries, data/tech and subletting. This is a pivotal leadership role with full operational responsibility and a clear mandate to protect income, strengthen compliance and modernise systems and reporting.

The role

Reporting to the Group Managing Director, you will:

  • Take overall responsibility for the performance of the freehold portfolio and the eight specialist teams that support it

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to line managers, ensuring BAU is delivered efficiently while driving continuous improvement

  • Develop and implement initiatives to streamline processes, improve customer experience and enhance operational efficiency

  • Ensure full regulatory and legislative compliance across all activities, embedding risk management into business processes

  • Work closely with the data and tech team to produce meaningful management information and metrics for the board, continually refining the MI suite to support decision-making and risk mitigation

  • Lead on key projects as they arise, including technology change, process redesign and new income initiatives

  • Champion the use of technology to drive innovation, efficiency and better customer outcomes

  • Inspire, develop and retain a high-performing team

About you

We’re looking for a credible, hands-on MD who enjoys being close to the detail but is comfortable operating at board level. You are likely to bring:

  • Extensive knowledge of the residential block/leasehold management sector and its underlying legislation

  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g. MIRPM, Chartered Surveyor or equivalent degree)

  • A strong track record of managing multi-functional teams, ideally across operations, legal, credit control and finance

  • Demonstrable experience of leading change – improving processes, implementing technology and building MI/reporting frameworks

  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to balance income protection, customer experience and risk

  • A leadership style that is collaborative, open and performance-focused
